Operation Update – May 15st

Dear fellow boaters,

We have great news to share with you!

Cooks Bay Marina is open for business starting on Saturday, May 16th.

We will still maintain social distancing and care for each other’s safety.  Please CLICK HERE to read the guidelines provided by Boating Ontario. Cooks Bay Marina will be adhering to all the guidelines that apply so, please be patient with us while we try to apply them to our operations.

We understand that many boaters are eager to get on the water, but we assure you we are doing our best to get everyone in as soon as possible. We have been hit with cold weather in the last few weeks, so we were not able to prepare the boats at the pace we would have liked because it could cause damage to the engines. Also, the ground was still too soft, so we could not bring the crane in for lift-in on May 14th as previously scheduled. Anyhow, our staff are working hard to get your boats in the water if you requested us to do it.  If you need to put the boat in yourself, please let us know the day you will be coming as we are still limiting the number of people working on boats in the yard.

If you are a full-year member that have reserved a slip, we are offering this year 2 new services to our clients as a bonus:

a “Commander Plan” of C-Tow marine services that are available to assist you in the water in case of emergency.

“Passport Docklinks” membership gives you discounts on services and products at many associated places.

If you would like to join both services separately, you can hire it from us for a price of $150 fee. Also, in a previous communication, we had offered a discount for the month of May as we were uncertain when we would be allowed to have access to the slip. Given that the Marina will be open this weekend, we will offer a 5% credit to all clients that had “store and launch” or a “slip for the summer.”

As the guidelines suggest that filling gas should be done prior to your arrival, we are offering a service to all our clients that we will fill their boats at a $0.10 discount from the listed price for the month of May. During the rest of the season, you will receive $0.05 off. Also, starting this year, we will be enforcing the insurance requirement that members are not to bring gas from outside and fill their boats in the water or the Marina property. The gas we provide in the Marina is high, marine-grade gasoline. If you wish to use your own gas, you will have to fill your boat off-premises. This restriction is required by insurance, so no damage or fire can be caused by gasoline mishandling in the Marina.

Operation Update – May 1st

Dear fellow boaters,

The Ontario government had announced that by following proper health and safety guidelines, marinas will be permitted from Monday, May 4th at 12:01 a.m. to begin preparations for the recreational boating season by servicing boats and other watercraft and placing boats in the water, but not open to the public. Boats and watercraft must be secured to a dock in the marina until public access is allowed.

Operation Update – April 27th

1.

The premier has extended the emergency state until May 12th, so we are delaying the launch-in date to May 15th, unless there are further updates from the government.

2.

We are going to start launching boats on May 13th, so we suggest that you arrange with our mechanic whether you would like your boat prepared for launching. Again, this is dependent if there are no further delays.

3.

Boating Ontario has provided guidance on how to operate the Marina in light of the Covid-19 guidelines. Please CLICK HERE to read the document if you would like further information.

4.

We are working on upgrading the Marina by dredging, and this is almost complete. We are currently at 8 to 10 feet depth, so plenty of depth for your boat. We also extended the launch ramp by an extra 10 feet. This will be one of the easiest ramps to use, so we are hoping you’ll enjoy it and take advantage of it.

5.

We realize that you will not be able to make use of the slip right away, and there is uncertainty when you will be able to go boating. So we will credit any member that asked for a slip the fee for May.  If the delay extends into June, then we will credit you June also. Most importantly, we want you not to worry about your fees as we are in this together. If your boat is with us in storage and you are not able to take it by the end of April. We will extend your storage at no charge for the month of May until you figure out what you would like to do. If you wish to keep the boat stored with us till the fall, please let us know, and we will provide you with a competitive price.

6.

If you need to work on your boat in the yard, please email us as we are allowing only two (2) people at a time, so we will have to schedule you in. Currently, we can not have people come walk-in as we are closed to the public.

7.

We can assure you that we are anxious to get the season started, but we have to keep in mind the safety of our staff, members, and loved ones. We will comply with all government recommendations, and we are here for you to answer any specific questions. We can still be reached by email or phone 7 days a week. We would love to hear from you.

Operation Update – April 5th

To our valued customers, friends, boaters & community members.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, and following guidelines by the province, Cooks Bay Marina is temporarily closed to the public until further notice. As an employer, it is our responsibility to ensure the health & safety of our staff, and that they remain at home.

We want to assure you that we are doing work in the Marina like dredging and fixing the slips so you can get on the water when sunny days arrive. The launch ramp has been extended by an extra 15 feet to make it very simple to launch your boat.

Remember, if you haven’t already, you can book your slip at our Marina to enjoy the beautiful lake Simcoe and escape the stress of the city.  We are offering summerizing service, launching your boat as of the beginning of May.  Also, the gas pump is ready to fill your boat so you can start your journey right away.  We have added new services for your convenience this season which we will share with you.

We are still looking forward to renting jet skis, fishing and speed boat, pontoon, canoe, paddle, and kayak to get on the water as soon as possible and have an unforgettable summertime!
