Exciting News: WaterGator Coming to the Marina

 

We’re pleased to announce the arrival of the WaterGator, a remote-controlled lake weed cutter machine created for optimal weed harvesting in lakes and ponds.

The WaterGator will help us keep the Marina clean, control weed growth, and ensure better boating. Expect to see it in action at the Marina during the first week of July.

Canada Day Celebration at Cooks Bay Marina

 

Bring your family and friends to Cooks Bay Marina for an unforgettable Canada Day. Enjoy our delicious poutine, which will be the special feature in our food truck this weekend, and a spectacular fireworks show on the lake.

TRAVIS & CHRIS
Travis and Chris are the go-to guys at the Marina. They make sure everything on the ground runs smoothly, and all the outdoor areas are well taken care of. This summer, Travis is also helping out at the boat workshop, taking calls, and working closely with the mechanics as a Service Advisor. Chris handles all the member requests, so he’s your person to go to for help!

Both Chris and Travis have worked at CBM for many years. They are well-known for their helpful attitude toward our customers and their professionalism.

How to Tie Up Your Boat at the Dock: A Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Approach the Dock Slowly and Safely

• Approach the dock at a slow speed, ensuring you have good control of the boat.
• Aim to come in at a shallow angle (around 20 degrees) and shift to neutral as you get close.

Step 2: Prepare Your Dock Lines and Fenders

• Have your dock lines ready and fenders in place to protect both your boat and the dock from damage.

Step 3: Secure the Bow Line

• Once close enough, step onto the dock (or have a crew member do so) and secure the bow line to a dock cleat.
• Wrap the line around the cleat in a figure-eight pattern and finish with a locking hitch to ensure it stays secure.

Step 4: Attach the Stern Line

• Next, secure the stern line in a similar fashion, wrapping it around a cleat at the back of the dock.
• Ensure both the bow and stern lines are taut but not overly tight, allowing some flexibility for tide and boat movement.

Step 5: Adjust and Secure Spring Lines

• Attach spring lines to prevent the boat from moving forward and backward along the dock.
• Secure a line from the boat’s stern to a cleat further forward on the dock, and another from the bow to a cleat further back on the dock.

Please drive slowly inside the marina. Excessive speed can create waves that may disrupt other boats and the office.

Do not fish on the docks!

 

Dear members, please refrain from fishing on the docks because the floor is slippery, and there is a risk of falling into the water or injuring yourself.
