Last week was the Canadian Safe Boating Council’s Safe Boating Awareness Week. This is a program that “strives to ingrain safe and responsible boating practices as second nature on the water”. (www.cbsc.ca)

The main messages of the campaign, as posted on their website, are:

  1. Wear a PFD or lifejacket.
  2. Don’t drink and boat.
  3. Take a boating course.
  4. Be prepared (both you and your vessel).
  5. Be wary of the dangers of cold water immersion.

These are all incredibly important things to keep in mind while boating and we encourage everyone to check out the Canadian Safe Boating Council for more information about keeping you, your guests, and your vessels safe!
